Khumbu Shazi
After completing both B.Proc and LLB degrees at the tender age of 20, Khumbu joined the NPA as a public prosecutor in 2001 prosecuting in district and regional courts. In 2006 she was appointed as a Senior State Advocate at the then Directorate of Special Operations (Scorpions) where she specialised in prosecuting complex commercial offences, and dealing with Mutual Legal Assistance and Extraditions. When the DSO was closed down in 2009 she joined the office of the DPP as a Senior State Advocate in the Organised Crime Component dealing with Organised Crime offences such as Racketeering, Corruption and Money laundering. Her work there earned her the NDPP Excellence Award in Organised Crime, the only one ever given to date.
Khumbu boasts extensive trial experience, having spent almost every day of her 15 year career with NPA in trial court, 10 years of which were in the High Court. She completed pupillage in 2017.
Khumbu runs a civil litigation practice with special focus in trial work.
