Vishalan Naidu
Vishalan was called to the Bar in 2006. He completed articles with Hofmeyr Herbstein & Gihwala (now Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr Inc) in Sandton in 2003 and was admitted as an attorney. He thereafter spent two years at Shepstone & Wylie Attorneys in Durban before commencing his pupillage.
Vishalan has a general litigation practice, focusing mainly on civil, commercial and employment law and is an experienced trial advocate. His civil litigation practice involves public law, administrative law and medical negligence matters and his commercial practice include representing clients in construction law disputes.
Vishalan has appeared in most of the divisions of the High Court and the Labour Court. He has appeared in the Supreme Court of Appeal and the Labour Appeal Court both on his own and as a junior. He has lectured Motion Court Practice to pupils and then transitioned to advocacy training in 2016, where he has been a trainer and an advanced trainer since 2018. He has trained pupils and advocates around the country.
Some highlights of Vishalan’s career thus far include being part of the team of evidence leaders appointed to assist the Commission of Inquiry in the Myburgh Commission Investigating the Rapid Depreciation of the Rand and Related Matters in 2002 and appearing in the Supreme Court of Appeal.
